Greetings,

CALL TO ACTION!

We had our first negotiations meeting this past Friday with the mediator from the Minnesota Bureau of Mediation Services. The presence of the mediator created an environment that was positive, but the District’s negotiating team showed no sense of urgency, according to our negotiating team.

We must continue to demonstrate our unity and send a clear message to the district that the time for them to put forth a respectable offer is now.  To send this message, we are calling on everyone to do the following:

1) Attend the School Board meeting at 807 this Tuesday, December 4th, at 6 p.m. Wear RED, and bring a sign to tell them what you think.  If you want to speak directly to the Board fill out a speaking card on the way in.

2) WEAR RED on WEDNESDAY!

3) Email the School Board members.  Tell them what you want to protect seniority, see a pay increase that shows they truly value us, and whatever other concerns you have.

Their contact information is publicized on the MPS Website at: http://www.mpls.k12.mn.us/board_of_education_biographies.html#pam

DO THIS FROM HOME OUTSIDE OF THE DUTY DAY!

4) If you have the time, attend the meeting about the Strategic Plan at the Minneapolis Urban League at 6:30 p.m. on Monday, Dec. 3.  The address is 2100 Plymouth Avenue North.

5) Talk to neighbors and friends in Minneapolis.  Let them know what is happening and ask them to e-mail the School Board members also.

Other than WEARING RED, everything else you do to show support for our negotiations team efforts should be done outside of the duty day, and outside of school.

In Solidarity,

The MFT Organizing for Settlement Committee
