Greetings,

Important Union Meeting about Contract Negotiations and

Red Wednesday

Tomorrow (Wed) November 28

The District’s negotiating team presented their positions on the teacher contract to our team last Wednesday.  The District’s proposals would result in giant steps backward in terms of our salary, benefits, and rights.  Because the state-imposed deadline for contract settlement (Jan. 15th) is only 50 days away, we are calling on everyone to join in the push to get the district to agree to a contract that truly respects the work, passion, and dedication of Minneapolis teachers.

First, we ask that everyone wear RED this and every Wednesday as a show of solidarity.  Encourage non-teachers who support us to wear red as well.

Second, we ask that everyone attend Wednesday's special union meeting at the MFT offices at 5 p.m.  We will explain the District’s position, answer questions, and discuss strategies for moving forward.  Our success depends on the strength of our collective voice.  Everyone needs to understand what is at stake, and play a role in fighting for a contract worthy of our vote.

  • If you believe we deserve a raise...

  • If you believe individual health insurance should be fully covered by the district...

  • If you believe seniority bidding is fairer than handing decision-making power to administrators...

  • If you believe helping retirees with the cost of health insurance is a vital benefit for all of us...

  • If you believe your time has value that should be respected and compensated, you should...

Wear RED every Wednesday between now and January 15th!

Attend the union meeting this Wednesday (tomorrow) at 5 p.m.!

In Solidarity,

Rob Panning-Miller,
President, MFT 59
